Once again I wish to thank everyone who helped make the July 4th event possible. It went well and we ‘touched” a lot of people. Thank you!
Join with me in congratulating Caylor Gasaway (another one of the youth in this year’s confirmation class) in her baptism and profession of faith a week ago Sunday. Her address is 87 Pea Ridge Rd Blairsville GA 30512.
We are looking for four people to staff (rotate one time every four weeks) our11 am service videographer service role. You create the DVD that is thengiven to Windstream to rebroadcast on cable TV. We have people willing to train you and walk beside you. Please help us keep this ministry of worship going for those who participate with us from home (by choice or because they are no longer mobile.) Simply give your name to me or Evelyn and we will arrange your training as we strive to keep this ministry in place.
Lastly, the fire last week did not damage our facilities because all our safety systems worked and the firefighters arrived quickly when the failed HVAC unit created smoke detected in our HVAC duct systems signaling the automatic response before we knew anything was wrong. That’s the good news. However, we are facing a substantial repair/replacement of this original installation HVAC air handler. That unit which services the Fundamentals Room in the lower level under the Fellowship Hall is out of commission until we act. Per conversations with our Finance Chair, we may be forced to use our available line of credit (a loan with the bank) to do what the Trustees know is needed to be done. We are also inviting our congregation to prayerfully consider a second mile gift during July for this unplanned HVAC expense. If you wish to participate simply write “Thank You Lord for watching over this Church” in the memo section (or just “HVAC” - but I think the first suggestion is best!) We are anticipating a $10,000 unplanned expense from the HVAC event after recently incurring roughly $3,000 of unplanned maintenance on our vans. But I know, God has this all figured out already.
God’s Joy,

July 29th Backpack to School Bash at FUMC

We are hosting the 2nd annual community Backpack to School Bash to help the families of Union County prepare for the school year. This event is in collaboration with Union County Family Connections and other participating churches and businesses. Help us make this a blessing for all the children who come to “shop” for school supplies and back bags. The collection bins are in the Narthex and MAc desk area along with “needs sheets.” We will also accept financial donations directly through July. FUMC has been invited to provide 200 of the small child book bags. Help us reach and exceed that goal. Let’s show our community our heart for the kids!
