I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving.
When you sacrifice a thanksgiving offering to the Lord, you shall sacrifice it so that it may be acceptable in your behalf
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
2nd Corinthians 4:15
Yes (Lord), everything is for your sake, so that grace, as it extends to more and more people, may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name.
As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.
Then ordering the crowd to sit down on the ground, he (Jesus) took the seven loaves and the fish; and after giving thanks he broke them and gave them to his disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.
Give thanks and have a great Thanksgiving everyone!
I give thanks for the so many people responding with their 2018 Estimate of Giving Cards in worship this last Sunday! The locked treasure chests with the drop slots on top will be out for several more weeks. You can add your cards to the treasure chests at any time. Remember to keep one of the little tear off cards for your 2018 records. And remember to fill out the “yes/no” questions on the back of other tear off little card you give us. It does not matter which treasure chest the big card (with your name) or which treasure chest the little card (with your estimated 2018 monthly giving number) go into - just don’t put both cards in the same chest! It’s our way of mixing them all up. If you are away from Georgia and wish to participate, let us know - Deidra will mail you a card and process it confidentially for you when you send it back. Blank EOG cards will be in the bulletins and at the Narthex desk and MAC desk. Our prayer is that everyone who worships at FUMC bring those cards as a way of expressing your attitude of gratitude to God. Let us all GIVE THANKS together.
This coming Sunday is Pioneer Sunday at FUMC!
We give thanks for everyone but this coming Sunday we are especially giving thanks for all those who have worshiped with us for decades. EVERYONE is welcome to drop into the fellowship hall and partake in the brunch provided by a group of Church Angels who are helping us say “thank you.” The brunch is open anytime after the 8:30 am service. Also, a special (Gold, Silver, and Bronze medal) recognition is provided to those who come this Sunday from the following groups:
Gold Medal - if you began worshiping with us before 1989
Silver Medal - if you began worshiping with us from 1990 to 1999
Bronze Medal - if you began worshiping with us from 2000 to 2009
You are our FUMC pioneers and we are THANKFUL for YOU!
You have to be present in worship this Sunday to receive your medal.
Something to put on your holiday schedules: (Come support our Youth!)
Our FUMC Youth are leading a “Hanging of the Greens” service in the Sanctuary on Wednesday November 29 - the Wednesday after Thanksgiving week. We are doing a “modified” schedule for just that night. Dinner will begin at 4:30 pm, the Hanging of the Greens Service will be at 5:30 pm and the Adult Advent study that begins that night will start at 6:15 pm and end at 7 pm.
Wednesday, December 6, Holiday Feast:
We moved our Thanksgiving Feast to coincide with two others things. We decided to try a “Holiday Feast” located between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year on a Wednesday night so that it does not interfere with other family plans. This is our New Member reception night as well. We will be celebrating roughly 50 new members in calendar 2017. This is also the final Christmas Cantata practice night and we wanted to provide our appreciation to them. Ro & the Robinettes are “doing” this meal this year. We are being given a great gift. The turkey meal, sides, and desserts are all being provided by Ro & the Robinettes. All you bring is “yourself” - that’s it. And this meal is free (no basket will be out for donations - it is a great gift) and open to our community. It is our way of continuing to Give THANKS for what God is doing among us.
Give Thanks, (Lord knows I am!) pastor mark

Critical Service Opportunities: (PLEASE CONSIDER!)
Remember to volunteer to help for “A Night to Shine” - the Tim Tebow Foundation Prom dinner/dance for people with special needs February 9 in our MAC. We also need communion servers to serve Holy Communion to our home bounds - you serve the same person(s) once a month on your schedule. Please help our growing team of servers bring God’s Grace to our members who can no longer come to the Table - help us take the Table to them! We also need two more people to serve in the video recording chair under Robbie Turner’s guidance at the 11 am worship service. This needs to be a rotation of four people - you will rotate through once per month. Robbie will train you. This role prepares the video that is given to Windstream for cable TV. If you wish to simply know more about either role, please contact Pastor Mark by email at firstname.lastname@example.org Please pray about this - both roles are critical!
