It is great to be back from a week away. How could I fall three weeks behind by taking off just one week? That’s the way it feels today on my first day back. But seriously, here is what I am reminded of once again - we have the most gifted team of people at FUMC - thank you staff team, thank you volunteers, thank you for doing all you do. You are all awesome!
And I celebrate with you - lots of wonderful stories regarding the Hope House Super Chef Showdown we hosted on Saturday in the MAC. Thank you Jennifer & Youth & FUMC for raising almost $1000 for Hope House through the FUMC Youth money jar - (you guys are on fire!) Well done!!!
We are a praying church. What a joy to see all the prayer knots representing your individual prayers over that prayer quilt in the Bray Chapel - it was presented to Maggie Guerrier this week.
I hope to see everyone Wednesday Night at our one hour OVERFLOW concert in the MAC - it begins at 6:30 (approximately one hour this time.) The concert is free. They have some new music prepared! Don’t miss it! It could be part of your journey from Spiritual winter to Spiritual SPRING.
Wednesday Night Nurture:
Dinner at 5 pm - Bangers and Mash to be served in the fellowship hall. This is a fundraiser for the Girl Scouts.
There is no Adult Bible Study this week - due to the OVERFLOW CONCERT in the MAC from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
There is no Children’s ministry (K-5th grader) tonight - come to the concert!
Youth (Middlers & High Schoolers) - special note from Jennifer:
Students! Parents! Congregation! Looking for something to do between dinner and the Overflow Concert this Wednesday? Come to a brief informational meeting down in the Youth Room beginning at 6:00 pm! We will be discussing:
*Our Summer Schedule
*An Awesome Mission Trip Opportunity
*Special Ops Registration for Congregation Members
Special Ops Servants will be integral to a new mentoring program, enabling our summer program to continue until our new Youth Intern arrives in August, and by serving as a Safe Sanctuary Second Adult for Youth Sunday School from May 19 - August.
Join us for 15 minutes on Wednesday prior to the concert and learn how your gifts and talents can bless our youth at First Methodist!
There are 40 baby bottles still unaccounted for the Women’s Enrichment Center fundraiser. If you have a bottle, filled or unfilled, please return the bottle asap to the church office.
The prayer quilt ministry is in need of large pieces of 100% cotton material to use for the backing of these quilts. If you’d like to donate material, please drop it off at the church office.

The United Methodist Men are going to provide a breakfast in the fellowship hall for the Worship Choir & guest instrumentalists (& spouses) at 9:45 AM between the 8:30 & 11:00 AM Cantata presentations on Palm Sunday, March 25, as an act of appreciation for all their work making the Easter Cantata happen for all of us. Because they must sing again at 11 we will have a relatively light breakfast for them consisting of scrambled eggs, mixed fruit bowl, cinnamon roll, juice and coffee. We have a group of 5 men so far committed to making this happen. We will be serving approximately 80 people. If you would like to help in this act of discipleship (and you should still be able to attend the 11 am service), please contact Sam Wilson firstname.lastname@example.org
This Wednesday, the Women’s Bible Study will begin a 6 week study by Tiffany Bluhm. Join us on the lower level of the MAC in the center Youth room at 10am on Wednesday mornings! If you have questions contact Shannon Burgess at email@example.com. Books are available at cokesbury.com and amazon.com.
Please help us fill our 2018 confirmation class. The class will be on Wednesday nights (6 pm to 7 pm) beginning April 11 for six consecutive Wednesdays. The class will be led by me and include some of my helpers from time to time. You do not need to be raised in our church to go through this class. It is open to the community we serve. It is designed for current fifth graders. However, you are invited if you are a few years older but never had the chance to complete confirmation. This is the class in our tradition that intentionally prepares youth in their discernment to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. Nothing is more important than this holy - life giving - invitation!
