YAH Back to School
“Bunco Fellowship”
Friday, August 10th
6:00pm In the Fellowship Hall –
Everyone should bring an appetizer or a dessert. $2.00 per person donation. Bunco has been played in America at least since the 1800’s. It’s a game centered around three dice and usually three sets of four players, averaging a standard group of 12. It is a game of pure luck; no real skill is required other than rolling the dice. However, the game is played in upbeat and social settings involving a lot of eating and fellowship, so there is always plenty to do! Join us!

BLOOD DRIVE: Sunday, August 12th from 9:30 til 2:00 pm. To schedule a blood donation appointment please call 1-800-REDCROSS (1-800-733-2767), visit redcrossblood.org or call Nancy at (706) 745-4870.

The youth need your help. Please bring old newspapers and drop them off in the youth office. They will be shredding them to use as weed killer in the pumpkin patch.

HELP NEEDED
9:45 Worship Service sound board: Gary Groves will train you. We need two new people to keep this a team of four so that everyone does one week out of four. We had no one in the sound booth this last Sunday. That required all of us who are leading worship to mute and un-mute our mics from the stage. It’s distracting and cumbersome. Gary is the sound Engineer - you don’t need to be - what we need is people willing to do the simple tasks in the sound booth during worship as coached by Gary. Help us worship with excellence!

9:45 Worship Service light board: Stacy Clements will train you. We need two more people to keep this a team of four so that everyone does one week out of four. This is not a complicated role - but it is vital to enhance our Praise Worship experience in a reduced light setting. Help us worship with excellence!

Fenced in Playground of the Hill: We need a handful of people who will oversee this vital area of our church. Our Preschoolers and our Children’s ministry use this area. Unattended, the weeds and poison Ivy take over quickly. Pastor mark took care of it last year. He cannot do it again this year. Basically, we need someone to spray and oversee this area to make certain there is nothing unsafe up there for any of our children.

Memorial Garden Area (Adjacent to the Sanctuary): We have a handful of people who doing the extra special care of this manicured sacred space on our campus. If you like caring for a very special small space that includes, push mower, weed eating, and blowing, join this group. This small area requires an extra amount of TLC. We will work out a schedule.

9:45 Service MAC Stage Design: We are looking for folks who are willing to occasionally get up on a ladder. The stage is a very large space. The sky is limitless in the possibilities. We need people willing to jump into preparing the stage for each season in the life of the church (not every Sunday.) Help us worship with excellence.

RENT A YOUTH: firstYOUTH would like to thank the MANY people who have expressed interest in the Rent-A-Youth Program, and we appreciate you patience and grace as we get our operation off the ground! We are currently scheduling work on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings throughout the summer, and the calendar is filling up quickly! This program is intended as work-for-donation to the Youth Ministry at FUMC. We offer helping hands for your house work or yard work, but do not own nor can we bring equipment to your home such as wheelbarrows, weed trimmers, or lawnmowers. Thank you all for supporting firstYOUTH at First United Methodist Church! Contact our Youth Director, Jennifer de la Montagne, at jennifer.fumcyouth@gmail.com with your needs, and we’ll set a date to come and work!

Here we are church family! 4 days out and we now we have 404 students registered!!!
We have closed registration as of now, but will continue to serve as many walk-ups as supplies allow. No one will go without. If we can’t meet the need Saturday, we will work with Family Connections to make sure everyone has what they need.

This community and especially this church, has responded to the call to GIVE… and given you have. Prayers, school supplies and financial contributions have been overwhelming.

Now I hope you will give yourself the chance to RECEIVE… receive the pure joy that only children can give, the opportunity to show love and grace to the MANY that will walk upon our campus, and most importantly receive the chance for others to see Jesus through your actions and words.

Please consider coming and spending some time with us this Saturday, July 28th from 11-2, Wear your volunteer t-shirt if you have one and as Pastor Mark says; “All Hands On Deck!”
