What a great Sunday! Yes, I got a little more excited than usual on Sunday - but who can’t get excited over the love of God Almighty! What joy to have people profess their faith in Jesus Christ for two Sunday’s in a row! All present were blessed this Sunday as Ariel McCarter (another member of this year’s confirmation class) gave her public profession of Christ with her family and friends by her side. Her address is PO Box 1756, Blairsville 30514.

What a joy to hear the good news in the mission moment done by your Children’s Director and Nursery Director as we deal with the “joy” of 10 babies - more babies than we can handle in one room (we are growing a second nursery room) and more children requiring more Sunday School teachers! We have had several volunteers respond to Sunday’s invitations and we are thankful! Contact Donna Frederick dfrede5513@aol.com or Shannon Burgess sburgess421@gmail.com about answering God’s call on your life to serve in these growing ministries of our church.

We have 20 people show up for Disciple 1 - to God be the glory! If you were unable to be present with us this last Sunday during the informational meeting but wish to attend, please respond to us and let us know this week. Nursery is provided. We are ordering books now.

God’s Joy,
Pastor mark

Orphanage Emmanuel:
Come take your vacation with God to Orphanage Emmanuel. Trip Date is January 5-12. The first organizational meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 5 at 6:00 PM (room to be announced later). Additionally, you can contact Joe Tatman for more information at 2jtatman@gmail.com.
The August Second Mile Giving is going to International Missions support for FUMC missions. You can designate your giving to Orphanage Emmanuel if you like. Two opportunities: 1) support the team projects and expenses, 2) sponsor a Quinceanera girl (our 3rd annual Quinceanera) for $40.
A special note about International Missions; as Acts 1:8 puts it “… to the ends of the Earth”. Travel costs can be a barrier for one of our own disciples to be a part of a team. Please consider this when you are nudged to give.

In the mountains, it’s not spring cleaning - but fall cleaning - that is our rhythm of life. Do you have some stuff in your house that has value but you don’t know what to do with it? Consider donating it to our Fall Festival MAC Fundraising event. Every penny we earn in this event goes to pay down our MAC Loan. So come on - wander into that basement - open those boxes - who knows what treasures may be there!

We are looking for some people to be Welcome Greeters at the 11 o’clock service. If you are interested in being a greeter and want more information, please contact Barb or John Hahn at 706 835 1289.

A Note from Your Finance Team
If you were in worship Sunday, you heard pastor mark make a special giving appeal at all 3 services. We have helped many people, fixed many things, increased many ministries, and made some really good investments in the appearance and functionality of our church. As a result, our expenses have exceeded our giving. August has been better, but we always struggle through late summer and early fall. If you can help us keep the forward momentum currently moving through our church, please do so over the next few weeks. Every dollar matters. Every dollar is an act of faith that allows us to touch people. And we are VERY GRATEFUL for every dollar received through your act of holy worship. Thanks be to God and thanks be to you!

………………. ..Received……….. .YTD Received
August 5th $ 27,604…………………………….$634,409
August 12th $ 18,870…………………………..$653,278
August 19th $ 19,604…………………………..$672,883

Please continue to remember your Church in your legacy trusts & wills - that gift is also greatly appreciated!
