Wow! What a day we had on Sunday! A family of two at 8:30, a family of four at 9:45, and another family of two at 11 united with what Christ is doing through this part of the body at FUMC of Union County! It is a Holy moment to see two adults experience their one baptism. And then the announcement of complete joy from our Finance Chair (details below in the “A Note from Finance” section.) It may have been cold outside, but it sure was warm inside!
God’s Peace,
pastor mark

A Night to Shine Volunteer Training:
Ok folks, we are in good shape. We have had an incredible volunteer response to this year’s “A NIght to Shine” event planned for Friday, Feb 8. Thank you for coming to one of the two training events that are now complete - we had a large crowd again this last Sunday. Help us if you can connect with community business sponsors. We are looking for partners who can help financially with this event. We are creating a Sponser’s T-Shirt this year and plan to show our appreciation for all our community businesses who partner with us. This has now grown to a five figure event! We have received a grant from the Tim Tebow Foundation, the Missions Committee is also resourcing this out of our church missions ministry plan, our entire faith family also has the opportunity to help through the second mile giving during January (one more Sunday to go) - but if you know of a business in our community who might wish to become one of our “A Night to Shine” partners - please go talk to them and let Joe & Kim Tatman know about that conversation.

Church-wide Work Day for A Night to Shine:
The Trustees are coordinating another church-wide workday to help prepare our campus (inside and out) to receive our special guests on February 8. The work day is Saturday morning, February 2 from 9 am to 1 pm. There may even be donuts and coffee if you come at 9 am! If you can help, please come. there will be people here directing willing volunteers into what needs to be done.

The office has received a couple of requests from members needing rides down to Atlanta for medical procedures. If you would be willing to drive down, wait and and bring back someone, please contact the church office. There is some monetary compensation available.

2018 Contribution Statements are available now. Please write your name down on the notepad on the narthex or email Deidra directly at blairsvillefumcdeidra@gmail.com to request your copy.

Over this last year, Bob & Carol Head went on to glory in heaven. FUMC was blessed for many years by their ministry, their faith and their gifts. Even after they’re gone, their legacy continues to live on at FUMC, as they left in their estate a gift to the church of stocks currently valued at approximately $500,000. The Finance Team will be recommending to Church Council that this gift be used to pay down the MAC loan. It is critical that we not be deterred from our planned giving in 2019. Praise God for Bob & Carol Head, and for all of you in our church family!

Teresa L Davis
FUMC Finance Chair

Please continue to remember your Church in your legacy trusts & wills - that gift is also greatly appreciated!
