08-13-2019 FUMC Tuesday Tickle

Many of us cannot wait for the kickoff of football season whether it be high school, college, or pro. So, in anticipation and just for fun I’m inviting you to wear your team colors to worship on Sunday, August 25. I imagine it will be a sea of red and black, white and gold, various shades of orange, and other colors, though I do wonder who will have the most representatives. Invite a friend to worship with us on team spirit day and we’ll find out.

Also, don’t forget our Wednesday night activities kick off next Wednesday, August 21, as well. We will have a “picnic” supper of chicken fingers, baked beans, cole slaw, and mac and cheese beginning at 5 pm. You are invited to bring a dessert to share. Following the meal, programs and ministries for kids, youth, and adults begin around 6 pm. If you can’t quite make it at 5 pm, join us for supper anyway. We’ll save a plate for you. I hope to see you there.

Retired Clergy: Wesley Woods of Blairsville is seeking a retired North Georgia Conference pastor to serve as chaplain to their vibrant, active residents. When people face challenges in their senior years, an on-site chaplain provides care and comfort critical to their journey. The position would be approximately 20 hours a week, with flexibility of schedule to accommodate grandchildren and travel. Please contact Rev. Karen Kagiyama, O. Wayne Rollins Director of Pastoral Care, at karen.kagiyama@wesleywoods.org or 678-234-4977 for more information.

Go Dawgs,

CEC preschool Parent Night is this Thursday, 15th from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. First school day is Monday, 19th.
EVERYONE, please be on alert as you drive into the parking lot for little beings.

Youth Ministry
Name Tag Fundraiser!

Tired of sticking a pin through your silk dress or putting a crinkle in your suit lapel by clasping on a name tag? Members of firstYOUTH will be at every worship service on Sunday prepared to take your order for one of our Magnetic Church Name Tags! These tags are $10 each. Look for a member of firstYOUTH to place your order!

We have TWO new crosswalks to help protect our little ones while crossing through the parking lot to get to the playground. The first crosswalk goes between the top stairs out from the sanctuary across the upper parking lot. If you see the children crossing, please come to a complete stop until they have all passed.

The second one is less obvious but is just as important. It runs perpendicular to the parking spots against the pavement to the playground sidewalk. These parking spots are still useable but do NOT pull up to the curb. Please leave the marked space empty so the children may walk in the crosswalk. NOTE how the car on the left is parked INTO the crosswalk. DO NOT park in the crosswalk. There is plenty of space for you to park outside of the crosswalk.

Weekday Bible Studies!

Men’s Bible Study meets on Tuesday’s at 10:00am in room M-7 (lower level of the MAC). Church Morgan is leading us through a study of 2 Corrinthians. All FUMC men are invited to come and bring a friend.
Ladies Bible Study Begins September 11th… and will meet on Wednesday’s at 10:00am in room M-1 (lower level of the MAC). Ladies will be doing the study “ROMANS… Good News That Changes Everything” by Melissa Spoelstra… We live in a world full of bad news. The media recounts stories of natural disasters, violence, and conflict. In the midst of all this heartbreak, we can’t lose sight of the fact that God has given us good news. We call it the gospel. In this six-week study of the Book of Romans, we will be highlighting the good news about faith, grace, daily life, God’s plan, relationships, and eternity. Whatever bad news we may receive, in Romans we will find good news to encourage and transform us. Mark your calendar!

Have you found your place of service here at FUMC? Pray about these opportunities…
