01-13-2021 FUMC Words for Wednesday
Make your ways known to me, Lord. Teach me your paths.
Lead me in your truth - teach it to me - because you are the God who saves me.
I put my hope in you all day long.
 - Psalm 25.4
As our nation continues to reel following the events from one week ago today, please continue to pray for our country. In a time when we’ve lost our way, when we’ve strayed from the path of who we are as a nation, I’m drawn to this verse from the psalm in my prayers.
Also, the Bishop released a video in response to the riots from an extended cabinet meeting earlier this week. She offers a prophetic and pastoral word and I commend it to your viewing. The link is:
Finally, I share a portion of the Prayer of Saint Francis. It is number 481 in our hymnal.
Lord,
make me an instrument of thy peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
Go and be instruments of peace, in the name of the Prince of Peace.
Don
As we continue to return to a more normal worship routine, we still have are making changes to accommodate our new protocols, etc. In light of that, we have now moved the 1st service to 8:45 am. This will help Sunday School classes and the middle service which starts at 9:30 am. The third service is at 11:00 am. We appreciate your patience as we fine-tune our schedule and do our best to make an easy transition from one service to the other.
The Friendship Sunday School Class is suspending class for the next few weeks. We hope to resume again in February.”

First UMC of Union County is a sponsor of the 2021 virtual Night to Shine. Our goal is the same as in previous years; to show our guests with special needs that they are loved. So what does that look like to us? 24 guests have register for the Virtual NTS on February 12. We will be offering these 24 guests gifts to represent our generous nature, affection and love. Each will receive their NTS bag with a 2021 NTS t-shirt, and a crown or tiara. In addition, each guest will receive a “Box of Sunshine” (Lots of yellow gifts), and a grocery bag filled with Pizza party supplies, and a donated Pizza from Sicily’s.
Here is how you can participate:
1) Donate funds to offset the expense. (We did not solicit small businesses this year)
