02-03-2021 FUMC Words for Wednesday
Communion Sunday and Ash Wednesday
Good morning church! I don’t know if the groundhog saw his shadow yesterday. I hope not, but this morning it sure feels like he did.
This Sunday, we will have communion at all three services as well as drive-thru communion on Monday from 1-2 under the narthex portico for those not attending in-person worship.
Also, Ash Wednesday (17th) is two weeks from today. Our Ash Wednesday worship will follow the model we used for Christmas Eve. You and your family or small group of less than 10 will be able to sign up starting this afternoon by calling the church office or you can sign up on Sundays.
Grace and Peace.
Don
Don’t forget the Souper Bowl of Caring is THIS SUNDAY, 7th. Last year, First UMC donated 700 cans of soup, stew, and ravioli to feed the hungry in our community. You can bring your gift on Sunday. All donations go directly to the 9th district food pantry here in Union County. Thanks for making it Souper!
First UMC of Union County is a sponsor of the 2021 virtual Night to Shine. Our goal is the same as in previous years; to show our guests with special needs that they are loved. So what does that look like to us? 50 guests have registered for the Virtual NTS on February 12. We will be offering these 50 guests gifts to represent our generous nature, affection and love. Each will receive their NTS bag with a 2021 NTS t-shirt, and a crown or tiara. In addition, each guest will receive a “Box of Sunshine” (Lots of yellow gifts), and a grocery bag filled with Pizza party supplies and a donated Pizza from Sicily’s. We have plenty of volunteers for this year. Here are a couple of other ways you can participate:
1) Donate funds to offset the expense. (We did not solicit small businesses this year.)
2) Write an encouraging note letting the guests know we love and miss them. Place your letter in Blue & Yellow Box in the Narthex. The deadline for letters is February 7.
Thank you for your wonderful support!

The children, youth, and adult Bible Studies are meeting Wednesday beginning at 6 pm.
