07-27-2022 FUMC Words for Wednesday
Good afternoon First United Methodist Church!
I hope this finds you well. Recently the conference posted a page online about what it means to be United Methodist. There are some very helpful links there that answer a lot of questions about many things including what our core beliefs are, how Christians can disagree on issues of human sexuality, and much more. There’s even a discussion guide on being United Methodist helpful for individuals and small groups. I commend this page and its contents to your reading and reflection. Here’s a link:
Also, note that you can subscribe to receive newsletters and other information from the conference at the bottom of that page or here:
God’s continued blessings on your day.
I look forward to seeing you Sunday when we continue our series on The Sermon on the Mount from Matthew 5-7.
In Christ,
Don
VBS is in progress! Please keep it in your prayers. We have around 40 children attending with 20 adults helping out.
The office alone will close early at noon this Thursday, 28th.
The MAC will remain open.
The Usher Team needs additional people to serve in the 9:30 Contemporary service. The month of October is open and training with a regular on the usher team will be provided. See Charlene Cook in the back of the MAC before or after the service or call her at 904/699-1790 with questions. Thank you for considering this service opportunity.
The CEC Preschool Staff would like to thank our FUMC Church Family for their support and prayers.
Our prayers were answered with some very gifted and talented teachers for the school year 2022-2023.
We are all looking forward to starting classes in August with all of our new blessings.
Gratefully yours,
Heidi
Director CEC
There will be a CPR class offered on Saturday, August 13th at 9:00 am in the fellowship hall. Class is limited to 20 students. A sign up sheet is in the narthex. Cost is $20.
Wednesday Night Programs
resume on August 17th.
Bible Studies for all ages will be available. Programs will start at 6:00 pm and end at 7:00 pm.
Occasionally we will have a supper beforehand. These will be announced well in advance.
The Fall Ministry Fair will take place in two months, on Sunday, September 11th! If you are a leader, or a member, of ANY ministry at First UMC, please be prepared to have a table set up in the Fellowship Hall on that Sunday with information on your ministry, information on how new disciples can SERVE with you, and how they can expect to CONNECT with others in your outreach. Together, let’s GROW the Kingdom for God’s glory! Be on the lookout for more information. Jennifer de la Montagne will be your contact for this event. jcarydlm@gmail.com
The men hauled off over 400 pounds of aluminum cans this week. Thank you to all who recycle their cans in the shed across from the annex. Please do remember that ONLY rinsed out aluminum drink cans are collected. No pie pans, no pet cans, no food pans whatsoever are accepted at the recycling center. Unnecessary trash creates work for our men rather than helps them.
Please stop by and say a prayer over these quilts. Tying a knot lets the receiver know that people care and that we have prayed for them.

It’s Our 6th Annual…
“Backpack 2 School Bash”

If you would prefer to donate directly to the event you can drop your donation off in the treasure chests and label it for “Backpacks”. Any questions on how you can help further call Tricia Wallace at 229-402-9361…PARENTS: Registration has begun!
