08-24-2022 FUMC Words for Wednesday
Good Morning Church!
Don’t forget that Bible classes for all ages continue tonight. Kids will meet in the Fundamentals Room, Youth in the…Youth Room, and adults will meet downstairs in the MAC.
On the Sunday after Labor Day, we will begin year 1 of the Narrative Lectionary. We began this Lectionary last year with year 4. Journeying through the Old Testament in the fall, we came to John around Christmas and walked with Jesus through Easter and beyond. This year, we will do the same, using different passages as we work our way through the Old Testament and arriving at Matthew around Christmas time.
In preparation, over the next two weeks we will have a two part series - The Old Testament in 20 minutes and The New Testament in 20 minutes. This may sound familiar as we did the same last year. The difference this year is that the sermon will pay particular attention to our passages for the coming year.
The Cabinet of the North Georgia Conference released a special statement last week regarding discernment over disaffiliation. You can read it here:
If you’d like to receive updates and other information from the conference, you can sign up at this link:
Finally, I leave you this morning with a blessing from Colossians 3:15-17:
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Don

The COUNTRY STORE is one of the favorite places for our shoppers. For those willing to provide items to sell, when you are canning your specialties, please keep our store in mind. We would love to have several jars, etc. of your “canned with love” items to sell in the store. Please put your names on the jellies and jams that you donate so we can know who to thank. We will be selling lap quilts, baby quilts, jars, jellies, old cookbooks, aprons and other items. Be preparing now to help. To donate early, you may bring donations to the church office anytime. For info or to volunteer for the Country Store call Barb at 706-487-9695.
CRAFTERS!  Our craft sale is a major part of our festival and we will again need all our crafters to participate. Whatever crafting skill you have we need something from you for our sale. You do not have to fill a table with your crafts nor will you have to be present to man a table. If you are willing to make just a few of your crafts, we will collect and display them. We are not asking you to make 20 or 30 items; just as many as you would like to contribute to the sale. Start now! If you will donate craft items for our craft sale please call Tricia Wallace at 229-402-9361. More info on when we will start collecting items will be coming soon. Thank you!
