09-28-2022 FUMC Words for Wednesday

Attention Church Family:

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the resignation of our Youth Director Jennifer de la Montagne. Jennifer is moving closer to her parents so she might help care for them. While we support her decision, we will miss her greatly as our Youth Director and as a our Contemporary Worship Leader.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, Jennifer’s next and last appearance here at church will be Wednesday, October 5th. We would like to collect a love offering for her this Sunday to assist her in relocating. Any kind of offering or simple words of encouragment would surely warm her heart. There will be a basket at the MAC and Narthex desk for cards. You may continue to drop off cards any time during office hours (Mon-Thurs 9-3) before the 5th.

Good morning church,

Just a reminder that the Bishop will have a town hall meeting next Tuesday, October 4, at 6:30 pm at Gainesville First United Methodist Church. She will be addressing what it means to be United Methodist and explaining more about the disaffiliation process. You are encouraged to attend. If you cannot make this gathering, others are planned around the conference. The first one is tomorrow, Thursday, September 29, at Kennesaw United Methodist Chruch. The entire schedule can be found here:

https://www.ngumc.org/newsdetail/clergy-and-laity-invited-to-regional-events-16608407

Sunday, October 9, will be Young Harris College Sunday here at First UMC. The college choir will be in our early and late worship services. Also, the Rev. Dr. Adam Daniels, the new Chaplain, will be preaching and College President Dr. Drew Van Horne will bring an update from the school at all three services. You don’t want to miss it!

Have a blessed day!

Don

There is a poster in the MAC lobby where you can sign up to be the groomer/pruner for a particular spot on our campus. You know the phrase many hands make light work, right? We’re hoping that together we can get our grounds beautiful again. This is in addition to our lawn mowing crew.

Ferst Readers Fundraiser. Please contact Pam Jordan for tickets at 706-897-3188 or pjjordan50@gmail.com. The price of one ticket purchases a years’ supply of books for birth-to 5 year old children.
Please stop by and say a prayer over these quilts. Tying a knot lets the receiver know that people care and that we have prayed for them.
