04-12-2023 FUMC Words for Wednesday

Guess what?

It’s still Easter and He’s still Risen!

Many thanks to all who led worship on Easter Sunday. First Youth led us in song and scripture on the hill in the mist of the early morning. Thank you youth and April for leading us! Many thanks also to those leading the celebration later that morning in the Sanctuary and at The Well – Jeff, Keith, Choir, Brass, Eric, and Overflow. We are well blessed at First UMC and you are part of that blessing.

Some of you may know that Eric Miller, our contemporary band leader, has accepted a commercial pilot position. Beginning April 17 and going through the end of May, Eric will be on hiatus as he trains for the new job. Tiffany Martinez will be leading the band through the end of May. Let’s all make sure we let Eric know how much we appreciate his leadership and wish him well in his training. Also, join with me in supporting Tiffany as she leads the band during this time.

In other news, have you seen the repairs and updates in the Fellowship Hall? The space is looking great. There’s so much room for activities! Many thanks to the Trustees and Chair Kenny Engle for making it happen!

Join us and invite someone to worship this week because He is Risen, indeed,

Don

Tonight, children and youth meet at 6 pm. Adult Bible Study resumes next week.

Our next supper will be April 19th at 5 pm. The menu will be meatloaf, scalloped potatoes and dessert.

MISSING !

We are missing several black tablecloths that were borrowed from a member for the Night to Shine event. If you have any information about them, please call the church office.

Kardia Sunday School class has changed class times. They now meet at 10:45 am downstairs of the MAC.

Thanks to the Palones for taking on the aluminum can recycling.

We still have an opening for overseeing the lawn mowers and mowing of the lawn. You don’t do it all, you will just be a point person for repairs and ensuring mowers are gassed up, etc. If you are interested in this position, please call the church office.

The Brasstown Ringers, a 16-member community handbell ensemble, will be in concert here at FUMC on Sunday, May 7th at 6 pm in the sanctuary. All donations received that night will be given to Blairsville’s Healing Hands Community Clinic.

On June 17, Mac Powell will be performing at the Union County School’s Fine Arts Center as a benefit for the Isaiah 117 House of Union County. It is going to be a great time of worship and support to a local ministry that will help to change the way foster care begins in Union County.

Seating is limited and tickets are available now at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/an-evening-with-mac-powell-tickets-532711643867?aff=ebdssbdestsearch
