05-24-2023 FUMC Words for Wednesday

Dear Church,

Happy Summer!

Come out and celebrate the beginning of the summer with our Family Fun Night this Saturday, 27th.

We will have the slip ‘n slide set up on the hill. Big and small, young and old are welcome to go down the slippery slope. If you can’t do that, bring a chair and be a cheerleader. Supper is on your own so bring a picnic. Let’s all fellowship together.

Youth will meet tonight at 5:00pm.

Children and Adults will resume in August.

The Balance Class begins here on Thursday, 25th from 1 pm till 3 pm in the downstairs of the MAC.

We will be closed next Monday for Memorial Day.

We will go to our Summer Hours on Tuesday, May 30th. The MAC walking track and church offices will be open from 9:00 am till 3:00 pm.

Registration for VBS has begun. Registration sheets are available at the MAC desk, Narthex desk and church office. Wonder VBS will be Sunday, June11th - Wednesday June 14th from 5:00 pm till 7:30 pm.

The sanctuary media booth needs some help at the 8:30 service. If you are willing and able to serve once a month, please contact the church office or Lamar Franklin at lamarlakeboy@gmail.com. Prior experience not needed.

Dear Church Family,

In January, our family joined the team mission trip to Orphanage Emmanuel and our hearts were changed forever! We could feel God’s love and see His presence in every corner and could hear God calling our family to serve at the orphanage in a much greater way.

As a single parent household, our family has experienced many trials, but we’ve always had a community behind us to remind us that God is good all the time and that there is hope for a better life! First UMC of Union County has been a large part of that community for many years! We believe God can use our story - with your help - to build His family by offering support, love, and encouragement to His children at Emmanuel.

Our family will be serving at Emmanuel from June 16 - August 19 with a possibility of returning in the fall, and we’d love for you to join us! We are looking for prayer partners within our church family that will commit to praying for our family every day during this mission. By joining us in prayer, you play an integral role on our mission team! We know that with God, all things are possible, and that the communication lines need to remain open for us to know His will and to stay strong. Please email Kathy Cook at heykay75@hotmail.com to join!

If you’d like to donate funds to our family, you can write a check to the church, just be sure to write “Honduras Mission Team” in the memo line so that the office knows it is for a special fund.

In His Love,

April, Zoey, Zayden, and Micah Southern

1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing.

Please stop by and say a prayer over these quilts. Tying a knot lets the receiver know that people care and that we have prayed for them.

Dan Payne - Bone Cancer from Agent Orange and pacemaker

Don, Heather and Wesley Landen - moving and having to adjust to new school and church.

The CEC preschool has several positions open for this coming school year starting in August. If you are interested in working in our preschool, please contact Director Jessica Johnson at 706 897 6621.
