THE SEASON OF ADVENT
As the calendar slowly turns towards December, our church family starts to anticipate the season of Advent that begins on December 3. Advent means “coming,” and the four Sundays before Christmas are a time when we prepare for the coming of Christ into our lives and the life of the world. Advent is a time of waiting, of looking forward in hope and expectation, a time when we anticipate the coming of Joy.
Throughout this Holy Season, God blesses us with many gifts. Each Sunday as another candle is lit on our Advent Wreath in worship, we reflect on God’s promises of hope, peace, joy and love. In Advent, we are invited to listen deeply, to wait attentively, and to embrace one another in the love that Christ has made known to us.
Our Advent journey can be a sign of Grace to the world around us. In the midst of the bustling activity and stress of the pre-Christmas season, we can find time and space to pause, to watch and to prepare spiritually for Christ’s birth among us.
May this Advent season be one of faith-filled anticipation for you and your loved ones, and may your hearts be touched anew by its wonder and joy.
Yours in Christ,
