9-16-2026 FUMC Words for Wednesday

More Than Money

Whenever the church starts talking about stewardship, most of us know what is coming.

Money.

And yes, money is part of it. Jesus certainly wasn’t afraid to talk about money and what our relationship with it reveals about us.

But stewardship is bigger than a dollar sign.

Stewardship begins with recognizing that what we have is a gift.

Our time. Our abilities. Our opportunities. The people in our lives. The resources entrusted to us. Even the days we have been given.

God’s grace comes first.

Our response comes afterward.

That changes the question.

Instead of simply asking, “How much does the church need from me?” perhaps the better question is, “What has God entrusted to me, and what am I doing with it?”

That is a much more personal question.

And I don”t think everyone will have the same answer.

For one person, the next faithful step might be beginning to give regularly. For another, it might mean increasing what they already give. Someone else may decide to begin giving proportionally or move toward the tithe.

The important word is faithful.

Not equal.

Not impressive.

Faithful.

As we prepare to make our commitments for 2027, I hope each of us will spend some time praying about that.

God has been generous with us in more ways than we can count.

How might our lives reflect that generosity

In Christ,

***Attention***

We are 3 weeks away from the target date of Sunday 10/4/26 to begin Stephen Ministry Training for new Stephen Ministers. We need to come up with at least one man and another woman to fill the class. If we don’t have that, we may be forced to cancel.

Please pray that someone will step forward to join us. Our plan for training is to meet every Sunday afternoon for a couple of hours. This class is a blessing to all that attend.

Kindness will always matter more than perfection. You don’t need to have everything figured out or be flawless every moment. What really sticks with people is how you make them feel. A kind word, a listening ear, or just showing up with love and empathy, goes further than any polished, perfect performance. People remember the care and effort you put into others, not how perfect you were.

Call one of our Stephen Leaders.

🎄 Operation Christmas Child 2026 🎄

Sharing God’s Love One Shoebox at a Time

Dear Church Family,

As we prepare for the Christmas season, we have a wonderful opportunity to share the love and hope of Jesus Christ with children around the world through Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse.

Each shoebox is more than a gift—it is an opportunity to remind a child that they are loved, cared for, and remembered. Through these simple gifts, children and families are introduced to the Good News of Jesus Christ.

🎁 Let’s Get Ready! Shoeboxes will be available after the Fall Festival.

We encourage everyone in our congregation to begin collecting items and preparing your shoeboxes now so that we can have plenty of time to pray, shop, pack, and prepare our gifts.

Shoeboxes can be packed for:

Boys or Girls

Ages 2–4

Ages 5–9

Ages 10–14

Consider including a special “WOW” gift, such as a stuffed animal, soccer ball with pump, doll, musical instrument, or another special toy. Then fill the box with school supplies, clothing, accessories, crafts, and other fun items. (Samaritan’s Purse)

❤️ Don’t Forget to Pray!

As you pack your shoebox, pray for the child who will receive it. Pray for their family, their community, and the people who will share the Gospel with them.

A personal note or photograph can also be included to let the child know that someone is thinking about and praying for them. (Samaritan’s Purse)
