Backpack 2 School bash

Planning for Union County’s 1st Backpack 2 School Bash is currently underway.

The date for the event is going to be July 30th from 10-2 at First United Methodist Church.

Commitments for help collecting school supplies or financial donations have been received from All Saints Lutheran, Day of Grace, Philadelphia Baptist, Harmony Grove, Blairsville Vineyard, Liberty Baptist, New Harmony, FCCLA, First United Methodist, Pleasant Grove, St. Clare’s Episcopal, and Chick-Fil-A.

A donation box will be set up at the Union County Chamber of Commerce to collect supplies.  Check back to find more collection points.

We are kicking off a new Cancer Care Ministry this Wednesday - see details below to be part of something both new and needed.

The Redbird craft show received $7,000 of craft sales and we received another $825 for them as a love offering for the Red Bird MIssion through our Connectional Group (the eight UMC’s of Towns and Union County) shared worship service one week ago. The Red Bird Missionary stories were awesome!

Union County Schools summer break begins this week.

This coming Sunday is Memorial Day Weekend. Honor the sacrifice of our veterans by how you live your life in freedom.

In Addition to Our Regular FUMC Activities:
New Cancer Care Ministry, The purpose of this meeting is to determine the needs and wants of the Cancer Care Support Group within the crucible of God’s grace. Please join us on May 25th Wednesday 11 am, in the small dining room in the MAC center. Our other support Ministries are invited to attend so that we can partner up with all to be present for God’s people in their time of profound need. Cave Quest Vacation Bible School, Ground kids in the rock-solid foundation of God’s love, a love that takes us through life’s dark times. This year’s VBS will help show all the children how to follow the Light of God’s Word. Our VBS dates are Sunday evening June 5th through Thursday evening June 9th. There is still time to sign up and help. You may register online at then Ministries/Children.
There will also be an Adult Bible Study going on simultaneously with VBS led by Rev. Rod McClarnon. Class will start at 6 pm and will cover “Did Jesus really say that?”. Come and enjoy a deeper study of the hard sayings of Jesus. We’re also going to do some very interesting adults crafts led by Rev. Mike Cloyd.

VBS Trainings Wednesday

First Kids, First Parents and First Children Volunteers:

Please remember that this Wednesday is important for our VBS!

- Dinner at 5 pm
- Safe Sanctuary Training with Pastor Mark at 6 pm in the Sanctuary.
This is for all who have NOT previously attended this training and ARE
