Palm Sunday AND Passion Sunday
Good afternoon church! I hope you are all well.
Our local custom has been to have a “music Sunday” two weeks prior to Easter Sunday. That would be this coming Sunday, March 21. With current constraints, it works better for our musicians at all services to push this day into May. We will let you know what Sunday that will be as soon as we know. Also, it is the tradition in the Church to have Palm/Passion Sunday when we acknowledge both Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem and his death on the cross on the Sunday immediately prior to Easter Sunday.
With the change in our local schedule, we will observe Palm Sunday and Passion Sunday on two successive Sundays at First UMC this year. This Sunday, March 21, will be Palm Sunday complete with the children’s palm procession. Sunday, March 28, will be Passion Sunday where we will hear and remember again Jesus’ suffering and death. I hope you will be able to join us online or in-person for these times of worship leading us to and preparing us for our Lord’s resurrection.
Grace and Peace.
Don
Confirmation Class 2021
Plans are being made now for our next Confirmation class. Confirmation is an opportunity for young people to confirm for themselves the faith we as the church have sought to raise them in. This year, the class is open to all youth in 6th grade and above. If your daughter or son has not been confirmed and would like to be part of this class, please contact us in the office at 706-745-2073. I look forward to hearing from you.
